Oklahoma State's Edwards Breaks Collegiate 1000m Record

Big Start to 2017 for NCAA Indoor Mile Champion

Oklahoma State senior and reigning NCAA indoor mile champion Kaela Edwards broke the NCAA indoor 1,000-meter record Friday at the Holiday Inn Invitational hosted at the University of Nebraska.

Edwards ran alone from the start, pacing herself to a victory in 2:40.79, breaking the record of 2:40.82 set by Angel Piccirillo of Villanova in February 2016, while besting her next closest competitor by just over seven seconds.
